Romanesque architecture is an artistic style that was associated with the Franksish period. It was developed around the 5th century , and is still used in certain European regions to this day. This is also known as Early Medieval or Frankish architecture. Romanesque architecture was named for Rome, the Roman city-state which was at the heart of much of Christianity during that time. This term can be used to describe any style of architecture that is influenced by Roman culture.
