Jagex and the Dangers Half Assed Wildy
Jagex and the Dangers Half Assed Wildy

With all the recent uproar about the rebirth of the wild, I'll take a more indepth look at what this could be for the game, and how the new rules that have been introduced over the last few years would be in conflict with what we refer to as "the wildy" and the problems that this creates.

Let's start with the wilderness boundary. Prior to 2007, there was no safe zone. This is the most important aspect of the current wilderness layout. There are safe zones. While you could claim that they shouldn't be eliminated however they can disrupt current pvp combats. The idea is to move into a secure zone, and it also concentrates fighting around them.

This is a reversal of the primary purpose of the lawless area. We need to ask ourselves if we could have a designed wilderness, whether like the one in BH Worlds or the one we currently have. Another issue is the current events that are taking place in the wilderness. Should you stay or go What effect could this impact?

Personally, I'm willing to move the minigames (Clan Wars and FOG, securing Deamonhiem), to various places. But the three quests are where things get tricky. The Summer quest line as well as Defender of Varrock each have sizeable chunks in the wilderness, but if that the quests will stay I believe the best option would be to re-instancing the whole quest. What does this mean? When you've reached the point of beginning your quest or have entered the wilderness, you're on your on your own. There is no interaction with other players. This could alter the quest, but not significantly.

Green Dragons and armoured Zombies, Chaos Ele, and other similar things must be the same. However, I think the most effective training location is a bit dangerous. The Corporeal beast is a fascinating point. Although it could be fun to barrage runners travel to the cave, its boss mechanic in RS is unique in that you can bank a lot of times because of its high risk nature. If the entrance was relocated closer to the border of the wildy it might prove more attractive since it's currently beyond level 20, which is the cut-off point for telegraphs.
