It is not totally free coins, at Animal Crossing Bells least from what I've seen. For the past few days I have gotten one daily arbitrary award for free to give to a post (as an incentive to buy coins I guess ). You can not select which award you receive and you only have 24 hours to use it. If you have been awarded an award token by Reddit, the"C" icon in the top right will state Free instead.

Yeah I came here hoping some shadow-dropped big update, awarded the awards and tens of thousands of upvotes. Now I just feel kind of disappointed lol

If this game has taught me anything, it is the Animal Crossing community is very proud about acquiring any kind of attention.

If they enlarge on farming and add in cooking too, that would be the best time to include Brewster. My fantasy is for him to conduct the cafe while I access to cook/serve food to the villagers according to their tastes. Kind of like how we used to take their coffee orders but instead Brewster does that and buy Animal Crossing Items we do food.
