P2pah - Ray Traced Shadows within World of Warcraft
Ray Traced Shadows within World of Warcraft Shadowlands have now been allowed on the game's Beta/PTR, and WOW Classic TBC Gold the very first comparison shots have now surfaced online. Back in April of this year, Blizzard additional Ray Traced Shadow alternatives to the match's Alpha. Unfortunately, actual Ray Traced Shadows weren't enabled just yet and people in the Alpha were only able to observe the new choices. According to the alternative's description, it"improves shadow quality together with ray tracing, which produces shadows with much more natural softness, greatly increased precision, and out of additional light sources"
Players from the alpha were able to select among the following Ray Traced Shadows choices: Fast forward four weeks and we can now finally see how the new shadows seem in the forthcoming Shadowlands expansion. Earlier this week we already reported the new NVIDIA Game Ready Driver additional support for the brand new feature in Shadowlands, and several Beta/PTR players have now shared some screenshots comparing Shadowlands with and without the Ray Traced Shadows enabled.
According to Blizzard, the newest option within Shadowlands utilizes DirectX Ray Tracing 1.1 (DXR 1.1) and also a DXR 1.1-capable driver is required to use Ray Traced Shadows. We've included the shared comparison screenshots down under. As may be seen in these shots, and as may have been expected, the effects of Ray Traced Shadows are not that obvious but do appear to be more powerful in darker areas with low lighting.
Blizzard has updated their minimal necessary spec to add 100GB storage area for the two SSDs and hard drives. However, they warn players that functionality of your hard disk might impact Shadowland's gaming experience.
In a sudden turn of events, Blizzard has announced that World of Warcraft Shadowlands now needs a 100GB SSD as a minimum requirement, but does that mean you can not run the game using a normal spinning hard drive? A couple of Shadowlands beta testers have reported that running the game on an HDD hasn't affected their gameplay or cheap WOW Classic Burning Crusade Gold performance in any substantial way. However, because this growth is still in beta, this can be subject to change.
