Forgotten Riddles - The Moonlight Sonatas Game Review
Forgotten Riddles: The Moonlight Sonatas is a hidden object game. This is different from the typical hidden object games where they do not have the list of items to find. Instead, Forgotten Riddles requires you to solve the riddles first to know which items the riddles mean before you can click on the hidden items in the scenes. The story begins in the town of Godesberg, where there is once famous moonlight Opera House. Sometimes, the neighborhood stills hears music playing from the dilapidated old house and some ghostly figure still can be spotted from the balcony. Your mission in this game is to solve the riddles and mystery behind the whole haunted opera house.
The game mode is divided into two modes which are Archaeologist which is the normal, timed mode. And Apprentice mode which you are given more time and extra hints. I've started out playing this game in Archaeologist and it turns out to be well worth trying in this mode first as took some time for the learning curve where riddles have to be solved.
Found this game very interesting. There is this Map button where you can go to different rooms in the Opera House to solve the cases one by one. Start with Dressing Room, which is the easiest to tackle. Click on the treble clefs to read its riddle and find the correct object in the scene. If you would like to read the whole story again for the Moonlight Sonatas mystery, there's this Notes button on the below of the screen and you can click on it to read the whole story of the game again.
Once you have gotten the hang of the game structure, it will be easier to handle the riddles. Like the first riddle you'll bump into. "I'm a smear of reflection...." and the answer turns out to be the the words written on a mirror. :p Also there's this riddle "The gentle supported of night's dreaming heeds, we're fluffy decor strewn about upon beds"...guess what? it's a set of pillows! Not very hard for the Dressing Room challenge actually.
Once all the Dressing Room riddles have been solved, move on to Theatre Stage. There is this secret room puzzle where you grab object from bottom panel and place the object in its correct location. Placing certain objects first may unlock spaces for the remaining objects.
For the Portrait Room, the riddles is about the description of the different portrait of the people in the room. Again, solve the riddles here. Well..for this room, I didn't quite solve all of them, as even though I spam click on every portrait available! Forgotten Riddles didn't quite penalize spam click unless you spam click a lot, they will reduce the time frame that you have.
Another room in the map..Nursery. When you put some gems on it's place at a secret door, it will open to reveal an angel statue..you can get the help to solve the riddles by clicking the Force at the bottom of the screen to break the glass.
All in all, Forgotten Riddles: The Moonlight Sonatas is not the simple hidden object games and requires time to solve all the riddles. Good challenge for those who like riddles and a refreshing change to get the mind cracking, while rest your eyes while you think. It's not the game where you have to squint your eyes to find the list of items like the usual games in this genre.
