Billie Jean King, née Billie Jean Moffitt, (born November 22, 1943, Long Beach, California, U.S.), American tennis participant whose sway and playing style raised the standing of women's professional tennis starting from the late 1960s. In her career she won 39 big names, competing in both singles and doubles. 

King was athletically likely from a young age. She was possibly among the best doubles players in the history of tennis, winning 27 big titles. Together with her successes in 1967, she had been the first girl since 1938 to sweep the U.S. and British singles, doubles, and mixed doubles titles in one calendar year. Roku error code 016

King turned professional following 1968 and became the first female athlete to win over $100,000 in 1 year (1971). In 1973 she overcome the aging Bobby Riggs at a much-publicized"Battle of the Sexes" match. The game set a record for the biggest tennis viewer and the greatest handbag awarded up to this moment. She pushed for the rights of players, helped to create a different women's excursion, also got financial backing from industrial patrons.
