To a certain Animal Crossing New Horizons Items degree, I can see why cultural appropriation is a problem. Taking something from a civilization and using it in a disrespectful manner. Like making a significant heritage to a joke is really shitty. But so long as the source is admired, or not direspected, limiting things based off ethnicites or where you live/were born is asinine.

Cultural appropriation is taking an important cultural element that has significance/is sacred in the first culture, and using it because you enjoy the look of itit's"exotic" and"trendy." It is particularly a problem when the original culture is usually erased by the borrowing culture.A great example is sporting Native American headdresses. Those are normally earned, rather than just anybody can wear them.

However, I understand a good deal of bitterness stems from people with heritage from different cultures trying to embrace this heritage as kids while growing up in westernized society and getting made fun of by other kids because their clothes is so different, etc, just to learn that now that they are older, what they had been made fun of for as children is now considered"trendy" from the kind of people they were teased by. That bitterness is understandable.

Agreed. Unless you are intending to be an asshole, it's fine the majority of the time, shit can occur from ignorance but not that tough to apologize and proceed on.In the most literal sense of this word, all of that is cultural appropriation; it's just that a lot of it happens to become positive cultural exchange. Sometimes it goes from positive to benign to all items animal crossing new horizons dangerous, and I think that goes a ways towards explaining why the line is fuzzy sometimes.
