NBA 2K21 is officially out now, but I only got my entire review copy yesterday , so this review in progress will trickle over into next week (following the Labor Day weekend). However, I managed to put in a decent number of hours and at that time NBA 2K21 has made it crystal clear that it's maintained the franchise's listing of stellar on-court gameplay. The majority of the upgrades are relatively small, like loose rebounds feeling and looking far more realistic, but they also help add to an already strong base. The best part of NBA 2K21 so far is the control tweaks, such as the new goal meter, make for an all-new learning curve. Unfortunately, updates to the surrounding game modes seem pretty barebones.

The aim-meter mechanic is really hard to master, but has already led to a quite satisfying one-on-one isolation victories. It's nice having the ability to use the right stick exclusively as a sculpting tool till I am ready to pull back for a shot. The ability to size-up, which is tied to special dribbling animations for many of the best players in the league, and isolate is better than ever. I spent a few hours experimenting with different playstyles, like easing the pick-and-roll with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. It is tremendously rewarding to utilize Doncic's size and footwork to create space - something that I could not replicate with other defenses around the group, like Seth Curry. While it is not completely new, NBA 2K21's ability to entertain gamers' playstyles is outstanding this year.

That said, there are already a few frustrating gameplay issues I've come across, also. Fastbreaks seem marginally enhanced, but participant spacing is still clearly off. For example, even my best three-point shooters will track inside the three-point lineup on fast breaks when they would be better off finding space in the corner. In general, it feels like NBA 2K21 has not completely adapted to the emphasis modern NBA basketball has set on the three-point line. Quick catch-and-shoots aren't as common as they should be, and closing out is still far too easy on defense.

Likewise frustrating is that the CPU's capacity to create problems for itself. It served as a jarring reminder that I was not, in actuality, experiencing a real game of NBA basketball.

From a cursory glance, MyLeague seems to have received nearly zero updates. The manner has a good set of features built into it , but this is actually the second year in a row with no striking improvements. As somebody who loves to deep-dive into franchise building, it's really disappointing that Cheap NBA 2K MT Coins there's so little effort being placed into the mode.
