As the highly anticipated Path of Exile 2, players may have to wait for a few more years. Although it was announced almost two years ago, the release time of Path of Exile 2 may be farther than expected. According to GGG's Chris Wilson, the sequel will be launched before 2024, and the public beta will take place within a year or two.

At the beginning of 2020, the Path of Exile 2 development studio made it clear that the sequel will not be ready until at least 2022. Previously, producer and chief designer Chris Wilson did not rule out that it might be released sometime in 2022. It doesn't seem to be what it was back then. In a recent Baeclast podcast, Wilson talked about the current development status of Path of Exile 2 and all the challenges the team has overcome in the past few months. When asked whether the eagerly anticipated action RPG will be available before 2024, the developer replied that the studio is looking forward to it. He later delved into more details, saying that the team will enter the public beta phase at least in the next two years, and the worst case is the summer of 2023.

There is no doubt that the pandemic and its related effects should be attributed to the delay, because development progress has been slower than originally planned. As the New Zealand border remains closed for the rest of the year, it is difficult to find and hire new employees to expand the team. Grinding Gear also has other problems in the overall artistic direction of the project to make it more different from the previous work. The developer clarified that the team has completed approximately 90% of the first act and 75% of the second act of the game.
