Imagine yourself traveling along a secluded road, heading far into the mountains, or your favorite secluded camping/hiking spots. Everything is calm and peaceful, then suddenly you see a deer and swerve to save both yourself and it. BOOM! You’ve careened into a gulch and your front wheels are buried in a couple of feet of mud, you try and try and find yourself unable to remove your vehicle. You’re stuck here for a bit. You pull out your phone and call for help, eventually being transferred to a search and rescue team. They ask if you can hold out for a couple of days because all their hands are needed for some brutal flooding happening a couple of counties away, and you say ok, your predicament isn’t too awful and you understand the prioritization.

Thankfully, you came prepared for a long trip and have plenty of rations and water stored in your vehicle. You pull out the freeze-dried food you packed, making a face as you taste it. That’s the only bad thing about hiking/camping trips, the yucky food. If only there was a way to heat it. Wait, your sister bought you something for Christmas that does that for and you packed it in the trunk! You dig it out and read Trayvax Ration on the label.

Trayvax you muse… sounds familiar. Oh, it’s the same brand as your dad’s wallet! He swears up and down by them, so you decide to open it up and give it a go since you’re going to be here for a while. You slide it from the box and discover it comes in two simple metal pieces with a powdered coated finish that gives it a polished look and feel.

You sit Trayvax Ration upright and discover a stove burner on the top, very similar to an electric burner, with a 20 oz stainless steel cup designed to fit on it perfectly. The size looks good, 18 inches long, 5 inches wide, and 6 inches tall, so it doesn’t take up too much room. A large part of it is hollowed out into a large storage bay, perfect for putting some water bottles and food into. You take a minute to transfer all the items you intend to heat up into this bay, surprised so much can fit!

Additionally, at the end is a super strong leather interior organizer, which would be great for matches, small tools, or utensils. While sliding a handy multitool into one of the leather compartments, you discover something inside. Curious, you reach in and pull out a BIC lighter, which is included with every Ration

Also included is a 3.5oz fuel canister which slides in under the compact burner and provides 18-22 uses. You turn it on and are pleasantly surprised at how quickly it heats your freeze-dried food. Glad to have a hot meal to munch on as the temperature gets a little chilly, you continue to examine the Trayvax Ration while you eat. An attempt to push it was futile, as it has a non-slip base to keep it in place. It also has a high-quality heavy-duty handle strap that reaches over the storage bay and connects near the stove, allowing you to carry it toolbox style.

A small bulge under the base of the strap reveals itself as being able to adjust and contain your strap, so you don’t trip over it when cooking, as the strap must be unhooked from the burner area for safety. Turning Ration around, you look closer at the stove part. It looks exactly like the type of stove an ex of yours had when he would go on high alpine missions. Very sturdy and dependable. Before you climb in the car to sleep for the night, you make a mental note to call your sister when you get unstuck from the ditch and tell her to thank you for the warm meals, and the Trayvax Ration.
