Future Profession
Picking a future profession and career might not be the easiest choice to make, but I can proudly state that I am done with it now. I decided that I want to be a dentist in the future. There are a few reasons why I made this decision. However, my positive attitude towards this occupation, as well as the compensation for the services offered are the most important ones. Moreover, according to E. Bratcher, “The need for professionals to examine our teeth … isn’t fading”. Majority of people is familiar with the representatives of this profession, and some are even afraid of them. In case someone does not know who a dentist is, this is a doctor, who is taking care of the people’s mouths, teeth, and gums.
As a dentist, I will be dealing with people. I will have to work with their personal information and process such data as a part of my future career. For example, I will need to know my clients’ mobile phone numbers and times when they will be available to come to the appointments. Also, I will need to work with the customers’ credit cards to receive payment for the dentist services I will be offering. In some cases, I might even need to turn to other dentists to get some advice. All of this data will have to be either input into a computer system or written out and handled on the paper or some app.
Once I know the basic data about my clients, I will be able to analyze it in order to arrange my schedule according to the availability of people. It means that the customers’ collected and processed data will be one of the key factors, influencing my future dentist career. I believe that I will need to store such information privately and safely, so I will probably need some both hardware and software in order to sustain the necessary level of care.
I am sure that I will have to obtain some traits in order to succeed in my future dentist career. For example, the proper attitude towards my clients’ personal information, good communication skills, and morality will make my upcoming job a successful one.
Technologies make a lot of things easy to carry out, especially when it comes to collecting, storing and analyzing of the data and information. Dentistry also enjoys highly-developed devices.
In my future career, I will need to have some hardware in my office to provide my services. For example, I will probably need workstations with flat screens to do the digital examinations of my clients and perform the data analysis on the computer. Moreover, such equipment will be totally necessary for the treatment planning, appointment scheduling, and billing operations. I believe that I will need to have either a laptop or a computer at home as well in case I need to work on something. Obviously, I will always have to carry a phone with me in case some of my clients need to discuss something with me. I will not need anything else, but a phone in my car, because I will not be able to perform any tasks on a laptop while driving.
My future career of a dentist is going to be much easier with a broad selection of software than it would have been a couple of decades ago. I will need the software to carry out the following tasks: the data collecting, storing and analyzing, treatment planning, consulting other doctors and getting advice from them, communication with my clients and so on. Fortunately, such products’ market is quite accessible and software developers are paying attention to the dentists’ requests as well. One of the most recent and beneficial apps is called MacPractice DDS. According to Jonathan Ferencz, “…software should be used to enhance patient care”. Other than this, I will need to use a simple mobile phone system to communicate with my clients as well as to talk to other dentists.
