Dwemer in Elder Scrolls Online
Bethesda's creative director said in a recent interview that Dwemer was designed for Elder Scrolls Online, but Todd Howard vetoed the idea.
Those familiar with The Elder Scrolls series are probably no stranger to the Dwemer Battles, which are a mystery in the gaming world. Earlier this year it was announced that The Elder Scrolls could not solve the mystery behind the disappearance of the Dwemer. In a recent interview with Game Informer, Zenimax Online Studios Creative Director Rich Lambert said The Elder Scrolls Online was considering exploring the race, but the idea was dropped by Todd Howard.
In the interview, Lambert stated that The Elder Scrolls world is conceptually exploring the mystery of the Dwemer and plans to delve further into the mysterious backstory. But, he said, Bethesda director and executive producer Howard reminded the team that this was not something he wanted to explore in multiplayer. For the fans interested in learning more about her, that could be another nail in the coffin.
For those who don't know, the Dwemer are an ancient race that was once lost in history. It's never really revealed how they disappeared. What is usually left are falsehoods about them and Dwemer junk that remains a mystery even though a fan claims they know what the purpose is. What Howard did seems to be researching the possibility of any information about the mysterious disappearance of the breed in the game.
The most likely way to encounter the Dwemer in Morrowind would be to encounter an NPC named Yagrum Bagarn, a character who investigated the mysterious incident and allegedly survived the event that made the breed disappear forever. Many may remember him as a short, plump resident with a beard and mechanical spider legs instead of fleshy legs.
It's a shame Howard apparently vetoed the idea of The Elder Scrolls Online. The online version of The Elder Scrolls is very popular, and The Elder Scrolls Online is officially coming to PS5 and Xbox SeriesX later this year. Although Howard had reason to turn down the idea, some fans may still be waiting in the scenes, hoping to solve the mystery. However, some may be comfortable with the idea that the fate of the Dwemer is always open to interpretation, while others will no doubt draw their own conclusions.
