Biology is the science that involves life and living organisms. It concerns with the structure, growth, function, revolution, distribution, and origin of living organisms and life. In other words, biology covers botany and zoology together with their distribution and sub-division. Botany is the study of plants while zoology is the study of animals, their lives, and distribution in the universe. Biology as the study of living things is further divided into many subgroups on the basis of biology organization involved. The branches include cells, molecules, population, and individuals. In scientific language, the main sub-divisions include physiology, morphology, embryology, taxonomy, ecology, and genetic. Biology is divided into given fields in reference to the living organisms covered in each division. A good example of these is zoology for animals study, botany for plants study, ornithology for birds study, entomology for insects study, microbiology for microorganism study, and bacteriology for the study of bacteria.

Biology as a scientific discipline offers an important responsibility for the welfare and care of living organisms. In other words, biology is an important study of life and living things. One importance of biology is creating awareness of diseases, their causes and diagnoses. Biology also offers know-how to human beings on the issue of food resources. It enables human beings to differentiate healthy and unhealthy food stuffs and also enable them distinguish the purpose of each food property. The study of plants enables one to distinguish different plants and what is required to improve their production and usage. The study of microorganisms offers a good knowledge regarding the source of diseases and possible solutions.

Biology gives a good explanation regarding how errors that occur to the cells can lead to cancer and other diseases. It also reveals the impact of both living and non-living things on life and health of human being. Through the use of biology, people are able to determine the DNA, hence acquiring a lot of benefits. The study of life and living things surround people in all places, that is why it must be a part of their life. This involves the ecosystems, communities, organisms, and the human’s body. The challenges that human beings encounter in their day to day life are determined by the nature of the living organisms that people come into contact with. The world can be defined as the eco-system where organisms interact with their environment including the living and non-living part of their environment. However, the dynamics of the ecosystem depends on two processes known as nutrient recycling and the flow of energy.

The cell is the smallest life structure that can perform activities. All organisms are made up of cells brought together. Cells have many characteristics in common such as being enclosed by a membrane and presence of DNA formation. Cells are divided into two, namely, prokaryotic cell and eukaryotic cell. There are many groups or species of living organisms as explained in taxonomy which is a biology branch that classifies living organisms. The three domains of life include bacteria, archaea, and eukarya.

Biology offers a good career in studying the human body, the challenges that affect the human body, and possible remedies. It gives a wide career that covers human medication, nutrition, and procreation. It is an interesting field that provides knowledge about the surroundings and what is required to make the environment conducive and favorable. Biology enables students to understand the formation of body tissues and what is required to prevent diseases as well as to deal with diseases and poor health. It empowers students to understand the impact of each organism, including those that they thought are of no importance.
